This mosaic bird is bright orange, with a purple outline made of iridescent tiles and shades of pale green in the head and wing. Hammered copper curls make feathers on the head and add character. A long waxed cotton cord is fixed for hanging.
Orange Winged Mosaic Bird
From the top of the wing to the bottom of the bird measures about 13.5 cm / 5 1/4 inches and about 17.75 cm / 7 1/4 inches long.
This mosaic has been made on a base that is weatherproof and the tiles are frost resistant. It will survive in mild climates outdoors. Hard frost and freezing weather may take their toll on a mosaic art piece over time. Once the frost starts, I put mine indoors or in the shed. Then in Spring, I celebrate with an 'unveiling' of my work - it's always exciting to get them out again!
